History of the Stream
The Bosham Stream is a chalk stream. Fed by groundwater rising from the chalk, it flows all year round rather than drying out in summer as a winterbourne does.
Chalk streams are a globally rare habitat. Their clear, mineral-rich water supports a remarkable range of plants and wildlife.
A fuller history of the stream, its wildlife and a map of its course will follow.
